La Palma-Flanders: the exhibition and the book by Facundo Fierro (2015)
In June 2015, the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de La Palma inaugurated "La Palma-Flandes," an exhibition by Facundo Fierro dedicated to the historical and artistic relationship between the island and the Netherlands, as documented by eldiario.es and El Apurón. El Time completed the coverage of the inauguration, in which the Director of Institutional Relations for CajaCanarias also participated.
A second piece by eldiario.es, with more editorial depth, captures how Fierro linked the project to the figure of Luis Vandewalle and the Flemish heritage preserved in the Canary Islands, and how he proposed even then the advisability of a museum dedicated to Flemish art in the archipelago—an idea that, years later, would reappear in the "La Ruta del Flamenco" project.
The exhibition had its corresponding editorial publication, "La Palma-Flandes. Pinturas de Facundo Fierro" (2015, ISBN 978-84-7985-380-8), and pictorial series such as "Diálogos con Flandes" or "Alisio," today part of the artist's catalog of works.
