La Bombilla, Tazacorte: The Chromatic Proposal of Facundo Fierro (2025)
In 2025, the Tazacorte City Council backed a neighborhood proposal presented by Facundo Fierro to turn the La Bombilla town center into a space with a strong chromatic identity, using different shades of blue visually associated with the sea, as reported by the local press. The news highlights the support of over a hundred residents for the initiative.
The project is the most recent trace found of Fierro’s work on color and Canarian popular architecture, a line of work that began in 1993 in Santa Cruz de La Palma, continued in Arucas and on Calle Perojo in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and which, more than three decades later, remains active in the form of concrete neighborhood proposals for population centers across the islands.
