Facundo Fierro in Nice: the trail of "Peintures du carnaval à l'Atlantide" in the French archives

The French national archives portal, FranceArchives, holds an archival reference titled "Facundo Fierro, peintures du carnaval à l'Atlantide", which is included in an inventory of illustrated posters and directs inquiries to the Archives départementales des Alpes-Maritimes, the administrative district to which Nice belongs.

As far as this research can establish, this is the best external and independent evidence of Fierro's time in the south of France, a period the artist himself places within the framework of his itinerant training between the Canary Islands, Paris, and Madrid, and which he has linked in subsequent interviews to his involvement with Carnival and the connection between Tenerife and Nice.

The artist's biographical trajectory attributes to this French period the Gold Medal of the City of Nice, awarded in 1991, along with a connection to the city's Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen. No official digital record from the Nice city council has been located in this research to directly document that distinction, so until such a primary document appears, this information is included here as part of the trajectory declared by the artist himself, indirectly supported by his confirmed presence in the French departmental archive.
