Is it La Palma?: Facundo Fierro's retrospective at CajaCanarias (2014-2015)
In 2014, the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de La Palma hosted an extensive retrospective exhibition of Facundo Fierro, as reported at the time by El Apurón. The exhibition brought together works and motifs from different moments in his career, including the doves of the 1980 Bajada, landscapes, balconies of the historic center, and references to the writer and historian Luis Cobiella.
The exhibition continued: between March and April 2015, it traveled to the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Los Llanos de Aridane, as documented by a German-language tourism information portal, which also credits Fierro with La Palma's tourism logo. The CajaCanarias Foundation also maintains the publishing record for the publication associated with this project, "Facundo Fierro ¿Es La Palma?" ("Facundo Fierro Is it La Palma?"), which focuses on the artist's dialogue with the island's large landscape formats.
"¿Es La Palma?" is, along with "La Palma-Flandes", one of the two major monographic retrospectives of Fierro at CajaCanarias regarding his relationship with the island of La Palma, and both have their own editorial publication.
